Network and WWW

A Network is a group of computer systems and other computing devices that are linked together through communication channels.

Types of Networks

•LAN(Local Area Network)
-Take a small area of space
-Mostly in a single room or building
-They can be connected to other LAN over telephone lines
-Can create a WAN

•MAN (Metropolitan Area Network)
-It can take the space of an entire city or campus
-Formed when multiple LAN are connected
-Provide fast communication
-Build networks with high data connection

•WAN (Wide Area Network)
-Network that exists over a large scale geographic area.
-Connects smaller networks (LAN and MAN)
-Works like LAN, but larger

•WWW (World Wide Web)
-A network of online connected formatted in HTML and accessed by HTTP
-Refers to all the HTML pages that can be accessed over internet
-Designed originally in 1991 by Tim Berners-Lee
-Mostly referred ad “The Web”
